An Idea To Change The Medical Device Industry of India- Hospytek
Have you ever visited a Primary Health Centre in any Indian village? If you have, there is one thing that you would have noticed for sure- lack of proper infrastructure. And this is not limited to a few PHC’s here and there. This is a situation faced by almost all the Primary Health Centers across Rural India. When we see such things, we get disturbed at first and then we tell ourselves, “I cannot do anything about this, this is the Governments headache, how am I supposed to change the system” and so on. But then there a few other people like Manan Mahajan who believe that they can bring a positive change.
How it began
It was somewhere in 2013 when Manan Mahajan was visiting a PHC in a village in Himachal Pradesh. At that time, he used to sell medical equipment and his visit was for the same purpose. But there he realized how these PHCs lacked proper infrastructure. Even if the doctors there knew what they require for their health center, they didn’t have any means to know where to procure those devices. They were not very updated with the different types of medical devices and equipment present in the market. This visit gave him his new mission of life,” to solve the problem of these doctors and to give them variety with economy”. He and his team travelled far and wide to research about the problems faced by all the PHCs and to devise a solution. They began helping these PHC’s and hospitals in finding the right equipment at the right price. Their first order came from a small village called Sultanpur in Solan Dist. Of H.P. And from there, the journey began and is still going on.
The Birth of Hospytek
In July 2015, Manan registered a company in the name of HOSPYTEK in Chandigarh. Initially, it was started as a purely e-commerce website but within 3 months of research, a lot of flaws were detected in the entire system and thus an office was set up in Zirakpur in December 2015 to start R&D on Hospytek. The Solution Hospytek came into being to become a bridge between hospitals, medical institutions and medical equipment vendors. The medical equipment industry is highly unorganized. There is no such thing as centralization in this sector. Thus, medical institutions and hospitals get confused as to where to buy the equipment. Hospytek solves this confusion for the hospitals. It has the largest number of vendors with the largest range of medical equipment registered with it. Hospytek aims at optimizing the unorganized and untapped medical device industry. Hospytek helps the hospitals to choose the best devices at the best price and at the same time helps medical device vendors in marketing their products and increasing their reach without worrying about inventory management.
